1. Atlanta: Police Officer
Arrested as Child Predator
Members of the FBI-led Safe Child Task Force arrested Casey Carmichael, a police officer for the Clayton County Police Department, on federal charges of enticement of a minor to engage in illicit sexual conduct/child sexual molestation. Full Story
2. Columbia: Operation FALCON Nets 540 Fugitives
Operation FALCON is an U.S. Marshals Service-led, multi-city, nationwide law enforcement effort targeting sexual offenders and persons wanted for violent crimes and narcotics violations. The FBI is a full time contributing agency. During a recent 16-day sweep, 540 fugitives were arrested and 939 warrants cleared. Full Story
3. New Haven: Man Sentenced
To Prison for Victimizing Young Girl He Met on Myspace
Jason Palmeira of Springfield, MA, was sentenced to 36 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl he met on Myspace. Full Story
4. New York: Democratic Fundraiser Charged with $60 Million Fraud Scheme
Norman Hsu, noted Democratic Party campaign fund-raiser, was charged with mail fraud, wire fraud, and federal election law fraud in connection with a $60 million Ponzi scheme and making illegal political campaign contributions through straw donors. Full Story
5. Baltimore: 45 Defendants Charged in International Money Laundering and Bribery Schemes
A federal grand
jury has indicted 39 individuals and one business on
charges arising from money laundering, conspiracy to
bribe a public official, operating an unlicensed money
transmitting business, and failing to file currency
transaction reports. One of the defendants was additionally
charged with concealment of terrorist financing. Five
additional defendants have been arrested and charged
with bribery and money laundering.

6. Cincinnati: Accused Murderer
Apprehended in Phoenix
Fugitive Cyril Lamont Byrd, wanted
in Ohio for murdering a security guard at a Cincinnati nightclub
in 1999, was apprehended by members of an FBI Fugitive Task
Force in Phoenix, AZ. Full

7. Washington D.C.: Dutch Aviation Services Company and Owner Charged with Illegal Exports to Iran
Dutch company Aviation Services International, B.V.; it’s owner, Robert Kraaipoel; and two companies owned by Kraaipoel’s son, Delta Logistics, L.V., and TPC, B.V., were charged with illegally exporting aerospace grade aluminum, aircraft components, and other equipment from the U.S. to Iran and the Government of Iran in violation of U.S. embargoes. The defendants have also been charged with making false statements on export control documents. Full Story
8. Philadelphia: Billboards Feature Violent Fugitives
Clear Channel Outdoor Digital Outdoor Network began showing wanted posters of eleven of Philadelphia’s most violent fugitives on eight digital billboards throughout the region. Clear Channel Outdoor donated the billboard space to the FBI. Full Story
9. Miami: Attorney Pleads Guilty to Mail Fraud for Bilking Clients of $13.5 Million
Attorney Louis S. Robles pleaded guilty to three counts of mail fraud in connection with his misappropriation of $13.5 million of settlement monies from clients afflicted with asbestos-related injuries and illnesses. Robles used the funds to finance his lavish lifestyle, which included a 9,000 square foot waterfront home on Key Biscayne, FL. Full Story
10. Phoenix: Havasupai Man Pleads Guilty To Murder of Japanese Tourist
Randy Redtail Wescogame of the Havasupai Indian Tribe pleaded guilty to the second degree murder of Tomomi Hanamure, a Japanese tourist who was killed on her 34th birthday after going for a hike to the Havasupai Falls. Wescogame agreed to life in prison without the possibility of release. Full Story
