Director Mueller Names Roland J. Corvington
Assistant Director Of The FBI's Security Division

Director Robert S. Mueller, III, has named Roland J. Corvington Assistant Director of the FBI's Security Division. Mr. Corvington was most recently Special Agent in Charge of the St. Louis Division.

Mr. Corvington began his FBI career as a special agent in December 1987. He was subsequently assigned to the Kansas City Division, where he later served as a supervisory special agent (SSA) of a white-collar crime squad and SSA of a Safe Streets Task Force.

In September 1996, Mr. Corvington was assigned to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he served as an SSA in the Drug Section of the Criminal Investigative Division. He was promoted to the Inspection Division as an assistant inspector during August 1998. In August 1999, Mr. Corvington was appointed to serve as chief of the Inspection Management Unit in the Inspection Division's Office of Inspections.

In November 2000, Mr. Corvington was named Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Pittsburgh Division. He served in this capacity until January 2004, when he was named section chief of the New Agents Training Programs Section at the FBI Academy, Quantico, VA. In February 2005, Mr. Corvington was appointed to serve as Special Agent in Charge of the St. Louis Division.

Mr. Corvington was born November 30, 1959. He graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in law enforcement administration. In 1982, he received a master's degree from the same institution. Prior to his appointment as a special agent, Mr. Corvington was employed in the private sector.
