KEITH SLOTTER NAMED ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
OF THE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Washington, D.C. -- FBI Director Robert S. Mueller has named Keith Slotter as the Assistant Director of the Training and Development Division (TDD). The TDD manages all instructional, programmatic, regional, virtual, and in-service training initiatives at the FBI Academy, including New Agents Training, National Academy, Intelligence Training, and International Training in furtherance of the FBI's mission. The TDD has been instrumental in forging partnerships with the criminal justice community that ensures the safety of the citizens of the United States and around the world.

Mr. Slotter was appointed an FBI Special Agent in June of 1987 and assigned to the Buffalo Field Office. In May 1991 he was transferred to the Miami Field Office where he was the undercover agent in a major undercover operation, known as "Operation Disconnect," which successfully targeted illegal boiler room operations throughout the country. His investigative efforts also led to a national undercover operation, known as "Operation Senior Sentinel," which resulted in the arrests of over 1,200 individuals in the mid-1990s. In August 1995, Mr. Slotter was promoted to the Financial Institution Fraud and Computer Crimes Unit at FBI Headquarters. Following that assignment, in April 1997, he was selected to serve as a white-collar crime supervisor in the New Haven Field Office where he led numerous high-profile public corruption investigations.

In January 2000 Mr. Slotter was named Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Cleveland Field Office where he was responsible for managing northern Ohio's Violent Crime, Counterterrorism, Foreign Counterintelligence, and Cyber Crimes Programs. Mr. Slotter was promoted to the Chief of the Financial Crimes Section at FBI Headquarters, in August 2002, where he managed the Financial Crimes Program and implemented the FBI's national white-collar crime strategy.

Mr. Slotter was appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Sacramento Field Office, in November 2003, where he managed all investigative programs for 34 of the 58 counties in California. He was named the Deputy Assistant Director of the Training and Development Division, in July 2005, and was responsible for all operations at the FBI Academy.

After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in accounting, Mr. Slotter worked in the field of public accounting and as an auditor within the Asset-Based Lending Division of People's Bank in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Mr. Slotter is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the AICPA, Connecticut State Board of Accountancy, and many other professional organizations.
