 
G. “Gurvais” Clayton Grigg is the FBI’s
Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO). He has held this position
since December 2006 and was formally appointed the
CKO in March 2008. The Office of the Chief Knowledge
Officer (OCKO), which is aligned within the Information
and Technology Branch (ITB), was officially established
on August 10, 2007.
The mission of the OCKO is to foster an environment
that promotes collaboration and sustains knowledge
transfer throughout the FBI and with its law enforcement
and intelligence community partners.
In this regard, Mr. Grigg serves as the principal
advisor to the Assistant Deputy Director of the FBI
and the ITB’s Executive Assistant Director and
the Chief Information Officer (CIO) on how people,
systems, and technologies exchange data, information,
and content to meet the Bureau’s goals and objectives.
As the CKO, Mr. Grigg works with the CIO, the Chief
Technology Officer, and other FBI components to establish
a robust and vibrant Enterprise Knowledge Management
Program that captures and shares timely, reliable,
and actionable knowledge.
Since joining the FBI as a special agent in 1997,
Mr. Grigg has been assigned a variety of investigations
including violent crime, white-collar crime, health
care fraud, and counterterrorism. During the last five
years, he has managed highly complex terrorism/terrorist
financing and technology-related matters.
Mr. Grigg has pioneered a series of data exploitation
and information-sharing initiatives and techniques
in order to execute large, record-intensive investigations
and intelligence efforts. He is recognized by many
within and outside the FBI as a leading proponent and
authority on those topics. Prior to his current position,
Mr. Grigg served as Section Chief and Director of the
Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force in the FBI’s
Counterterrorism Division. He is one of the founding
members of the Terrorist Financing Operations Section,
which was formed shortly after the events of September
11, 2001.
In 2004, Mr. Grigg received the Director’s Award
for Outstanding Information Management for his innovative
work. He holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry
with a minor in Spanish from Brigham Young University
and is pursuing a master’s degree in Homeland
Security Management from Long Island University. Before
the FBI, Mr. Grigg worked as a stock, bond, and insurance
broker in the financial services industry.
