$500,000 Corporate Embezzlement - II
Listen with Windows Media Player
Also available on iTunes

Mr. Schiff: The FBI had a case in Oregon where an employee of a company embezzled about a half-million dollars.

Mr. Gray: "He created bogus invoices that caused the victim company to submit checks to entities that actually held accounts for the subject’s personal accounts, credit card accounts, and other investment accounts that he created.”

Mr. Schiff: That’s FBI Special Agent Jeff Gray.

Mr. Gray: "The invoices made it look like the victim company was actually paying off legitimate invoices when, in fact, they had been duped into paying the subject’s personal debts off.”

Mr. Schiff: Gray says the guy was the company’s chief financial officer and was very savvy.

Mr. Gray: "His underlings had a tendency not to question his orders. And number two, he was also very familiar with accounting techniques and used that to his benefit to further conceal his embezzlement.”

Mr. Schiff: The subject admitted guilt to charges of mail fraud and money laundering. He was sentenced to nearly six years in prison. I’m Neal Schiff of the Bureau, and that’s the FBI’s “Closed Case of the Week.”
